HCTU is a coupling reagent with reactity betwwen HBTU and HATU. The electron withdrawing effect of the chlorine atom in HCTU results in more rapid coupling.  HCTU achieves superior results in many cyclizations (PN Cheng, JS Nowick, J. Org. Chem., 2011, 76, 3166-73) and difficult couplings though it is less effective than HATU. It is reported to be less allergenic that other coupling reagents. G.
