Aminomethyl Surface Active Resin
Description

aapptec resins are manufactured utilizing proven procedures to consistently produce high quality, highly uniform products. Microscopic examination of our resins show the beads are spherical with very little size variation. There are no broken, misshapen or odd sized particles that can clog frits and filters. The resins swell homogeneously, which produces higher quality peptides. aapptec resins have excellent swelling properties in all standard peptide synthesis solvents.

aapptec’s Aminomethyl Surface Active Resin (AM SURE™) is a new and unique type of resin support. Unlike other aminomethyl resins where the reactive aminomethyl groups are distributed throughout the resin bead, the reactive sites of the Surface Active Resins are confined to a thin layer on the surface of the resin. While the restricted space surrounding the interior reactive sites inhibits free movement of the attached peptide chain and can result in deletion or chain terminated peptide impurities, the reactive sites on Surface Active Resins are unencumbered. Surface Active Resins, as well as all of our other resins, are available in quantities from several grams to up to 500 kg in one batch.

Our substituted resins are manufactured with a typical substitution of 0.5 to 0.8 mmol/g. Higher or lower substitution levels can be provided by special order. They are carefully manufactured to minimize or eliminate epimerization of the amino acid.

Customer Satisfaction with aapptec Products

Using aapptec’s recommended protocol for the aapptec Rink Amide AM Sure™ Resin (Cat.# RAZ060) and HCTU (CXZ030) to synthesize a peptide in our laboratory, we obtained a yield 2 – 3 times higher than that obtained when using previous protocols and other commercial sources of Rink-Amide Resin.

We also found that the HCTU is a very good coupling agent and is much easier to handle compared to PyBrop. We tested it by coupling small molecules to various secondary amines, and obtained a yield equal to that received with PyBrop. We found that the stock solution of HCTU in dry DMF can survive much longer than the PyBrop. Overall, considering the ease of handling and other factors, such as price, etc., I believe the HCTU is the best choice to use in peptide synthesis.
